SVX TCU mod

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After researching this for awhile, I went ahead and did the mod..reached down behind the battery and pulled the plug 'literally' to the TCU resistor
a couple things were expected at startup
1) the power light would flash 16 times to indicate a fault
2) engine check light could remain on

neither has happened so far..could take a few more drives to provoke it.
Before: my SVX tranny was very relaxed and simply slipped into gear..on occasion it would clunk into 2nd from 1st if it were driven slowly..around town I kept it in 3rd to prevent constant downshifts from 4th
The general concensus is that with the resistor working the tranny slips for comfortable shifting..this creates heat

After: car scoots better off the line at half throttle..acts like its at wot..
wot is the same once in power mode
shifting is firm and no clunking thus far..1st-2nd-3rd transitions are quick and no sign of the slipping
keeping it in 'D' is possible now without the cruise gear hunting
it shifts into 4th only after you let up on the throttle some
All of this is early opinion..but there was an immediate change
SVX folks feel free to check out my car at the next meet
yes?or no?

That's just the resistor mod. Don't do it in my opinion.

Most members have used the SmallCar Shift kit instead of doing this. It does the same thing, but the car will not search for the gears like when the resistor is unplugged. With the shift kit, you can also adjust the amount of snap to the shifting.
