Took it to a mechanic, and sure enough it appears to have been combination of the MAF sensor, and a slow / intermittent LH oxygen sensor.

Man, new MAF sensors are expensive!

So I decided to clean my MAF sensor first, and soaked the thing in vinegar and water (ran out of vinegar) overnight. Stuck it back iin, now my car isdleing at 1.5k rpms instead of 750rpms. I get only one code

12,

I forgot how to clear the codes, and what 12 code means, since the svx-iw.com appears to be down at the moment. Anyone know off the top of their head?

12 = Abnormal signal from the starter switch. Doesn't have much to do with your idle. The ECU may take a few cycles to set the idle speed. It may come good.

Hoping for the best, I'll be dropping down to pep boys to grab a standard paper air filter. I've heard the K&N oil from their filters may foul the MAF sensor, and I'd rather not do it again!

Fill it up with 101octane at shell. Go on the highway at night, or on a track if you can. Open it up. Not recomended if you dont have good tires,AWD,brakes, etc...

Seemed to drive great for after an hour. Idle rpms staying around 600-750 like before. After that I reset the ecu and error codes by draining the battery.

I started having rough idling and stalling again.....

Sorry about that. I'm having some trouble with my ISP at the moment but hopefully will have that taken care of soon.

I finally got my used MAF part and am about to install the ting. I checked my codes again after several episodes of engine stall. Now I only get

a code of 12. (after cleaning the previous MAF)

I also get code 12 on my car. I don't know why? I have no problems starting the car.

If we knew what code 12 meant, that would help . I am a bit confused on why the codes are always changing. Perhaps I do have an electrical problem after all. The new used MAF from a 97 is in, I hope my problems disappear!

code 12 is the starter circuit.. I had to unhook my negitive terminal off the battery and let it stay over night, hook it back up in the morning and all was good.

I believe cleaning the maf with vinegar is a good idea
but just this last yr at SEMA K&N addressed the myth
of their filters causing problems

this link has a little info on about it

When my car did the same thing your car does, I could
put it in nuetral and it would start back up.
After you start it again, if all is clear and you feel brave
try just nailing it and see what happens up to like 60 or so..
I found a few times my car would take off, and fall on its face
like it was starving of fuel, ..spark seemed to be fine.
But its still anyones guess.

After a couple days, I beleive I can call my MAF installation a success. (off a 97 subaru svx) I haven't felt any hesitation and the engine has not stalled.

I still get check engine code 34, but that is probably another problem alltogether.

Now my latest issue is someone broke the rear passenger window to grab my labtop bag, only finding a bunch of gym clothes inside
