Tom is right. Bigger engines go into smaller cars, smaller engines don't go into bigger cars...

But in light of the fact there are no new eg33 blocks, I think keeping that one you've got on the side is a good idea.

I hope you install that ej25 and show us what it can do in that SVX shell.

Some of us might be blowing up our eg33s soon, so keep some parts handy.

we measured everything up, we will be doing some custom fab, but the width of the subframes is within a 1/4 of an inch. Also the mounting points are simmiler.
We wont know til we get the old subframes out and teh new ones in though how much we are going to need. To answer about the weight and the torque, we measured it out and we saved around 200 lbs with this 2.5 and the 5-spd. and the subframes are bound to be lighter. The stock 2.5 has 235 torque at the crank and when we get done tuning it should be somewhere near 300. Sometimes people forget that horsepower is torque times rpm all over 5252. They are the same thing it is just how much hp you have at a certain rpm is what determines the torque

if you need anything from the svx let me know, we have the seats, engine, a blown tranny and front diff, both the subframes and the suspension. Also the steering column.

The curb weight of a 92 svx is 3525, the curb weight of an 06 sti is 3351, we shave 200 lbs off we will be at an sti weight. My friend in his 06 wrx ran 300 horse at the wheels with less modifications than we are doing in 98 degree heat, not sure of the torque, but never the less, a stock sti has about 260 at the wheels and it weighs 3351, and our car is going to have 300 at the wheels and weigh around 3300.

Don't forget with all these hp comparisons you are making the ej25 is factory turboed. If the eg33 were factory turboed it would probably be in the 300 range.
The specs really aren't the issue, it's just one engine is 0.8L bigger than the other and as everyone knows displacement = power. It's the one thing you can't really toss around or adjust like FI or whatever. If you get rid of the eg33, you will be throwing away a mass of pure untapped potential.

These engines are scarce these days and we at SVXN feel sentimental over them, even the ones we don't own.

I know that there is no replacement for displacement, we don't want the fastest svx, we just want a unique car. and something that has never been done before, and because the engine is factory turbocharged, we don't have to mess with the internals at all. We aren't going for 10's in this thing. It just needs to keep up with my car.

I know it will. I understand the logic in using this platform and wish you luck towards it's completion.

Good luck with the project. If you can get 300hp to the wheels then you may just have a contender for the Stage III SVX's.

We know Chike can run 13.7 in his stock WRX with that engine. In the SVX it should run low 14's stock...let alone modified.

Like I said, best of luck to you... Sounds like you have a good idea of what you are doing... I can only imagine what you are in for with lining up the subframes correctly.

NO, an Imprezia Suspension will not work on the SVX... The Rear mounting on the SVX is waaaay too high... QUOTE]

Really? I must remember that next time I drive our race car. . COUGH COUGH. A front Impreza strut works 100% in the rear once you get past the difference in hub sizes.

It isn't that difficult to go from one size to another in terms of wheel bolt pattern. They do sell plenty of kits to make it happen as we explored this option when we were thinking about Corvette rims. Don't know what this guy is thinking though.

bdr & 04sti,

It is great to hear of your progress!!!
I applaud your efforts, work and results!

The car looks GREAT !

People have been talking about this for a while.
It is good to see "young people" creating, building, making it happen!

Keep up the good work!
Tom.

Actually the Claret at Jerrys farm would be the doner.
But a sb with a hairdryer would be cool too!
