Moon roof and window switches are buzzers

Ok... My SVX sat for a week in all of the rain last week. I took it to work today and the roof wouldn't open and the windows wouldn't roll down... So I thought "FUSE". ... "I'll check it when I go home tonight." Got in the car for the trip home and thought... "gee, let's try the windows again." the driver's side switch "buzzed" but the window didn't move!!! the passenger windows did nothing. So then I tried the moonroof... It buzzed too but did not move...

So..
#1 does anyone know where the fuses are for the roof and the windows? I looked both under the dash by the drivers side door and the fusebox under the hood and saw nothing labled window or roof...

#2 Has anyone had this happen before. I did a lot of searches on moonroof, windows, fuses, fuse... etc, but saw nothing.

thanks in advance...

tap... tap... tap...

Hello? Is this thing on?

I'll even take joking answers...

I'm at a loss as to even where to begin to troubleshoot this

If a blown fuse were the culprit you'd hear nothing.

Maybe it is the motor that you hear buzzing.

In the first one odepaj describes a problem which sounds nearly identical to yours, perhaps PM him to see if he ever resolved the issue.

I still havent worked this problem out, i pulled out my headliner to put in the sunroof motor and found out that the buzzing was coming from what looked like a relay, (you hear the buzzing in the roof when you try the sunroof dont you, and buzzing in the door when you try the window). If you pull apart your door, or decided to pull out the headliner look for some wires leading to a plug that is in a little black plastic box about 1.5"x1.5"x0.5", you can pull the entire relay out of that plastic box (it just slides/clips out) and that is what the buzzing comes from, someone with a more electrical background can explain more of this. I guess just find someone parting out a car and ask for these relays, that should fix the problem, unless their going off because bad wiring or something.

Still working on it....

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...4&postcount=19

I'm in the process of getting the driver's side seat up... after about 4 hours of fighting with the bolts under the back side of the seat I'd like to kill the person that designed these seats without a manual release that would override the motors in the forward/backward adjustment... now... If I can figure out how to release the seat belt binding on the right side of the drivers seat I'd be very happy and less frustrated!!! well that's my break time.. I'm going to check the relays under the seat... it is wet down there and looking up at the underside of my steering wheel I see a fine coating of rust !!!

Well..... THERE's your problem....

Indeed as with the sited thread... upon lifting up the front of the driver's side seat... (I'd have taken the whole GDam thing out if I could have gotten to that last MFING bolt that is on the upper rear side of the seat!!!) I took a chance and unscrewed the relay and pulled it out(dropping the screw down the hole in the process... ) one of the wires had corroded through and will need to be replaced... (I hope this is the only problem.. everything else looks ok)

I'm going to cool off a little and think about how to rewire this connector (short term or long term fix)... I'll take a couple of pictures and show

SubaSteevo! Thanks for your help. The end of a long day for an old fat man trying to get to bolts in a small car... but it worked!

These are High res so you can zoom in and see how bad the connector was.

Odepaj, look under you seat... I'm guessing if your driver's side window switch and your moonroof motor buzzes when you press them... it's this relay under your seat... Good luck!

And thanks again for the help

So I pull into Advance Auto this morning to order a new front axle, which I had discovered was bad the same day I changed my spark plugs, which I had discovered were bad the same day I put in my Ecutune Ecu, and what do you think happened?
While trying to roll down my window to take a picture of a neat old Toyota the window stops working.
Push the switch and just hear a buzzing.
So right there in the parking lot, while waiting for Advance to open, I took my door panel off, played with the switch, and nothing. Still no windows.
Drove home in 20 degrees, with the window down, did a search and sure enough found this.
Went back out and yep, no sunroof either.
So now after I replace my axle I guess I need to tear my seat out.
Sigh.
Would Holy Water on my dashboard help?

Hey guys,
To prevent problems like this on our industrial electric equipment, when a connector such as that is in a wet/conceivably wet location, we wrap it with rubber or electric tape, or some other means of keeping water out. Corrosion can and often does create shorts in plug/socket connections there, as we are in the rainiest part of Oregon and also in the middle of a river. Just to make life easier in the future I recommend you do the same.
