Replacing the exhaust gaskets

My exhaust got kind of loud I brought it over to a muffler shop and they determined I needed my exhuast gaskets replaced. They quoted me around $300. Are the gastkets something I can buy myself and replace myself?
if so does anyone have any advice or a how-to and website for parts.
Thank you.

-Is't not my resonator I already had that fixed(just so you guys know)
thank you

The hardest part of the replacement is getting the bolts off in one piece. Expect to replace at least one. Penetrating fluid and heat are your friends.

$300 hahahahhahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahaha
ahahahhahahaahahahah
hahaahahha
aha.

ahem.. yeah I had the same problem when I bought my car. I went the expensive route and bought new gaskets and springbolts from a stealership and only paid $100 (still cheaper than $300) and did them myself. All you do is unbolt the exhaust, pull the pipe down and put them in. If your bolts are half as rusty as mine were you're gonna have to cut them off though. Use daddy's saw or something and save yourself a lot of money. You may need to use a wire brush to scrub off all the old gasket/rust crap also.

yeah this job is a huge!!!!! pain in the butt!!! I'd invest it a set of strip bolt removers, the ones that tighten as you torque...they saved me a whole lot of time and aggravation!!!

www.subaruparts.com they have a schematic diagram of everything and part numbers to go with it. I think you have to register with the site now though, its free so its no big deal just a little inconvenient.
