Tranny/Engine Mounts?

I think some of my tranny or engine mounts have gone south. I get strange squeakes from the front of the car and today while the car was off I opened the hood and laid my hand on the engine and it squeaked as if a mount was bad? I dont know if it is a tranny or engine mount though. When I apply pressure to the engine (trying to shake it or something) thats when I get that squeak. Also, I get a bad squeak in the back somewhere around the rear passenger side wheel.

When were your struts and mounts last replaced? After 230k, I finally replaced all 4 sides on my SVX along with the rubber bushings on the front stablizer bar and almost all the squeaks and rattles have gone away.

They are the original struts, only 100k miles on them so I dont think its them. I checked them out and they seem to be fine. I checked them by pushing down on the car over the strut, good stuts/springs should raise the car back up and settle quickly, bad struts/springs will bounce around before settling again.

Edit: can one of the mods combine this thread with my "Some problems with my SVX" thread? sorri to have started 2 threads about the same problem.

If it's your '92 you're talking about, it's highly likely that the motor mounts are gone. Both of mine were in two pieces when SVXFiles went to install my Group N mounts.

That's what they say but at 200k, my old struts still didn't fail the bounce test, even though I could feel the looseness in every movement of the car.
