Gosh, I'll bet that's gonna be more expensive than my repair!
Sure hope its "just" the Rabbit. Although catching fire in any car is NOT A GOOD THING! |

Sorry Chris.
My bet is on the SVX, but I hope I'm wrong on this one. He was finally getting his SVX back since the accident, but it sounded like he was experiencing a few problems. Last edited by Noir; 08-29-2005 at 05:34 PM. |

I would bet on the SVX also. My bro had his 12.9second Z catch on fire and get completely destroyed the other day as well. I hope that the rabbit died and not the SVX. LEt me know what you need and I will see what I can come up with

Check your fusebox. Make sure the realys are not damaged and check to see if they are all functional. Also check to see if there are any bare wires laying around or a loose ground. Try getting a test light out and make sure you are getting power to the ignition and all other related places. Work backwards as to try and find the short

Chris,
Ditto what Tom and Jesse said! There are several of us out here with full shop manuals (that have the wiring diagrams), so try to post some digital pics of the "fire site". Given the location of the fire and the fact that the car won't start, I'm going to guess that the wire that was arcing and started the fire was going to the starter (since it is right next to your clutch reservior). First step is to check all of the fuses/relays under the hood and those under the dash (make sure to check the fusible link!) - just like Tom suggested. -Bill
