am i missing something????

i keep seeing these 4 door saturns with racing stripes and wings on them, i still think they are total pieces of crap that couldnt beat the average 110 hp car down a 1/4 mile....but i see more and more of them... is there like some kind of hidden appeal that i am missing???????... course i did see a 1987 ford escort with a wing on it the other day too and i didnt know wether to laugh or gag...

thoughts??

if anything im glad these idiots exist if only to make me look better by comparison

The wing is silly, but some of those Escorts aren't all bad. Sure, they have the craftsmanship of a garbage heap, but they can be a lot of fun to drive. ...as long as the bushings are good. ...and the motor isn't blown. ...and the seats don't spontaneously recline under acceleration. ...and the clouds of burning oil don't asphyxiate you. ...and, well, you get the point.

I heard that Saturn was making something fast and sporty now. I don't know much about it, but I guess it's supposed to be at least remotely respectable. That's probably not the Saturn you're talking about. ...or could it be?

i just bought a 1995 saturn sl2 for 600 with 118000 miles on it. just till my 1992 svx gets fixed. it is a straight beater car. the acceccorys on the are worth more then the car itself. the mods done to car. intake, header, catbackexhaust,16inch 5-spoke rims,KYB GR-2 struts and H&R springs. the car is fun to drive becasue of the handling. IT chrips second it an auto. i personally don't want a saturn but this is done up right and is fun is hell to drive. and is good on gas. but for $600 car what more do u expect from any car that has to driven hard for 500-600miles a week.

Running rings around Saturn

You may be seeing the Saturn Ion Redline, which has a supercharged engine.
I believe the new Cobalt SS has the same engine, but in a much more pleasing shape. The Cobalts have received some very nice reviews lately.
I wish my SVT Focus had 205hp, but I wouldn't swap its excellent handling for just more power. The Sky is a really nice car that might help turn Saturn around.

I'm really looking forward to the Sky. I just hope it's put into a SOLO2 class that it's competitive in.

no this was liek a 1994, 16 valve saturn sedan just like my mothers secretary and 3 of my teachers drove. i doubt it was worth the $60 paid for the aluminum wing.

and that saturn convertible is pretty slick... betterthan the soltice (i just dont care for the soltice) but i would be interested in a g6 convertible when those hit the market.

i was basically jsut wondering the fascination with the early 90's 4 door saturns. and if there was something aobut them i was missing.

granted i think 4 door tuner cars are stupid (all those people are jsut extra weight) and they pay $12grand for a car put $30grand in upgrades to "make" the porche or corvette they coulda bought in the first place for that money

i jsut dont "get it" i guess

I figured it was another one of grandma's cars with a wing, but I wasn't sure though. I don't get it either. You can't polish a turd. (But some people sure try!)

My cousins boyfriend has a Saturn Wagon with a body kit. Everytime I see it all I can do is shack my head. He was talking about putting in a 2JZ or RB26 in it. I didnt have to self control to hold in the laughter so I quickly excused myself and walked around the corner were he couldnt see me.
