Quick PayPAl Question

I have never received a payment through paypal. It's telling me I have to upgrade my account to accept a payment and I have to pay a percentage to get funds. Is this normal?

If I remember correctly they just need a bank account on file for accepting payment. Still take their percentage (usually about 2-4%). It really isn't that bad of a deal considering your bank charges you for the privledge of using an ATM even though they touted ATMs as a cheaper alternative to a live teller.

Be careful when you accept payment via paypal. If you are shipping goods, only accept payment from someone with a confirmed address and send the item only to that address (and keep a record of it). Otherwise, the person can reverse the funds and you get nothing.

Also, if you start accepting paypal payments, open a new bank account only used for paypal. When you receive a payment, transfer it to that account and then withdraw the funds from that account. That way Payal cannot dip into your account and take out funds. It's been done. Paypal is convenient, but be very careful when taking payments or you could get burned.
