Electrical problems-Help!

Got in the car this evening to go get Teriyaki, started it up and noticed the rear wiper would only work on continuous speed.

Then I noticed the A/C, clock and all the lower switches weren't working at all; but there stereo, headlamps and all the guages worked fine. No CE light, nor did I get any codes when I checked. All the fuses are intact under the hood.

One odd thing is the tranny temp guage light worked, but it didn't read any temp.

Any ideas?

edit: Also just checked...the one visor that worked is out.
Another thing, I noticed one of the hoses to the tranny cooler more than the shop led me to believe; both wires to the temp guage are soaked in tranny oil. Could this have shorted out part of the electrical system?

Try checking the fuses under the dash on the drivers side.
Make sure all the grounds are good.
Not sure if tranny fluid would short something out. Electronics inside transmission and they do not short out.
I would use a test light on the fuses too. Sometimes they blow and the eye can not tell.

ok....I unplugged the visors and replaced the clock fuse (I only have the spares). Still nothing. Maybe I'm missing something. I'm thinking about replacing all of the relavent fuses with new. Unfortunately I do not have a meter.

I weird item....while removing the visors, the door locks suddenly locked. I sure hope my car isn't haunted.

replacing fuses is a good place to start.

i would also check for a short involving the visor wiring. it has been mentioned before - do a search.

my car had problems with the clock and interior lights, and after going nearly insane, i pulled the cluster containing the interior light/sunroof controls, took it apart, and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner. problem solved.
