1954 F-88 Oldsmobile Concept - $3,240,000

Don't know if anyone caught this, but at this year's Barrett Jackson auto Auction, this concept Olds sold for big jack.

It was made by Harley Earl and others to be similar to the Corvette but due to poor early Corvette sales, this Olds was cancelled. Anyway, four prototypes were completed.

The winning bidder is a frequent customer of Amanda's (svxqueen) store. I'm sure she'll have more info to post!

Just think, for that kind of cash, you could get a lot of awesome cars, a nice home, and a lot of toys.

Plus, that was only the bid. Consider taxes and the 8% fee Barrett Jackson charges....

Think of how many SVX's you could buy with 3 mil!

it's a cool car but I'd rather have one of the original thunderbirds over that baby poo colored relic.

I think it looks great. The Vette started out with the "Blue Flame" 6 as it's only power source. The Olds version was to use the 356ci Hi-compression V-8 that made the 88 such a runner for it's day. In the 50's it was Olds motors that were the favorites of Hot Rodders and Drag Racers. Until Chevy got Fuel Injection in 1957, it was the Olds and Plymouths that ruled the straight tracks. If ford hadn't brought out the T-Bird, the Vette would have been cancelled.
