Level Ten performance transmission group buy
Anyone interested in a group buy on Level Ten performance transmission? They will offer a discount of up to about 13% for group purchases of 6 or more on a package which includes a performance transmission system, a pts hydrosystem upgrade, and a pts converter upgrade. It's still pricey- about $3864, but its a great system.

I should clarify- The performance transmission group buy price would be around $2864 (regularly $3264). The $3863 includes the torque converter upgrade ($400, regularly $498) and the hydrosystem upgrade ($600, regularly $698)

Before committing yours and other 420M I suggest you may want to ask for comments on Level 10 expereince on SVX. I had a 95 LSI I bought new and came upon a 97 LSI with 16M original miles on it in 1999 which I bought and sold my 95 to my son with 77M miles on it. less than 15M miles later he needed a trans and as we are a stones throw from Level we naturally went there.
Their reputation is very good but our experience with the full change over you noted was not a good one. It was in for nearly 6 weeks and then in and out over the next 2 months. It never was right and my son got rid of it several months later. His wife will not let another in their house. I picked up a 94 LSI in May 03 and have been bringing it up to near new. It is highly likely there is a new trans in my future and plan not to take it there. This was almost 4 years ago and may have been the proverbial lemon. But checking first may be worthwhile. ------ Jerry |

i live five miles from the owner of level 10 and when my transmission went i seriously considered going the level 10 route. However the main thing is that they offer absolutely no warranty whatsoever, now to spend at least 3k and not get any sort of warranty is foolish, in my opinion. Especially when subaru has a 3 year 36k mile one for about 500 dollars more. And secondly level 10 advertises to produce BULLETPROOF trannies, there is a member on here who recently bought an svx here with a level 10 tranny and it went south on him. This is the reason I would not go to level 10.
If you are close to level 10 i highly recommend going where i went. The place is called tri-state transmissions, wasn't anything special, took about a month to do because of a backlog, but the entire rebuilt cost 2000 and that came with a one year 10k mile warranty. I've been happy with it so far. That's another option, if you want performance go the 5spd route and save some money. Good luck, chris |

I have a second hand trany that has the Level10 Valve body, Got the trany with 15k on it, put on another 10k so far, still works fine. I do regular Trany fluid changes and added the trany cooler.
So my level 10 experience is positive, so far anyways. just an fyi, your rebuild is only as good as the core you get rebuilt.

From what I understand, the wiring harness for the later model cars is different from the earlier models. I've known a couple of people with 96 and 97 models that had difficulty with the Level 10. Those who've had them installed in their 92's (Or thw one's I've known) haven't had any difficulty, that I know of.

steve, if you got that warranty that's great and frankly a surprise. I mean when talking with the owner i just couldn't believe that he wouldn't offer a warranty, it was amazing. He wouldn't budge.
