Question for Level 10 tranny owners

I recently bought an SVX from a forum member with a Level 10 rebuilt tranny in it. When driving it home it had a harsh shift from first to second gear when going very slow, if you went fast the harsh shift or clunk wasn't as evident. Two days after getting the car home the tranny went south (appears level 10 rebuilds aren't bullet proof after all). Tranny shop advised the planetary gear let go and destroyed the tranny. Had it rebuilt and I still have the extremely harsh shift from 1st to 2nd gear when going very slow (would almost describe it as a very harsh shift accompanied by a clunk) Tranny shop advised nothing they can do as it is something level 10 did with their modifications. Just wanted to know how other level 10 rebuilds, valve body modifications behave as the previous owner had brought it back to level 10 shortly after the rebuild there approx 3 yrs ago and they told him that it was normal for their rebuilds-modifications and to not worry about it.

Yep that's the way it works.

2+ years on mine and all is well.

If it really bugs you, I'm sure you could find someone with a stock valve body to swap with.

If you also get a clunk then your tranny mount is probably worn out.

A bad mount would definately be more noticed with the hard shifting of the level 10. It'd be worth a quick look if you have the car up.

I know mine doesn't make any clunks except for that 1-2 slow speed shift, so I'm fairly sure my mount is intact. Next time I'm under there I'll double check it now though

Thanks for the input, just trying to get an idea of what is normal with the Level 10 rebuild, valve body modification.
A new mount was installed with the tranny rebuild so I'm sure that is not the problem, but it was my first thought when I picked up the car. The only time it is bothersome is in heavy stop and go traffic, otherwise you are doing a steady acceleration and the clunking isn't really as noticeable, at that point it is just the harder shifting.

Doesn't a level 10 remake involve remove the dropping resistor? Would putting one back in (if it's gone) reduce the clunk?
