He mostly gets volvos, land rovers, he has 2 newish probes, and others. He mostly gets luxury cars.

Fixed your post. I could buy a 2 year old LR at a 1/4 the new price tomorrow. Volvos, are a little more at a 1/3.

I tried a Land Rover once. An 03 Discovery with 43k miles. How could I go wrong, right? After having to replace the head gaskets, I barely escaped without losing money. Never again.

You got lucky it was just head gaskets. Their electrical systems are a marvel of modern futility.
