These people will be on the States budget for the rest of their lives.
Where as a older rider will probably pass away not long after a accident.
Family is more liable to pull the plug on a older person than younger one.
Either way, all riders have a responsibility to learn how to control whatever they own. And do it in a fashion that doesnt make the rest of society look down upon them.

Re: I passed!

Congrats on the pass!

Never assume a cager has any clue that you exist. I had a near miss this weekend, and I was driving .3 miles from the shop to the house. They're looking for other cars, and not you. I was sitting at a stop sign and he approached from behind and had to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting me from behind.

Thumbs up Re: I passed!

Congrats Michelle!

I knew the Good News already from Facebook, but it is really excellent for you and you are to be congratulated.

Put up plenty of miles so you get used to traffic. Better that you lose your fear of it, being too fearful leads to timid riding, and paradoxically this is bad news. You have to be brave enough to stake your claim to the safe riding lines, and not let car drivers intimidate you.

Always drive with full lights on and never assume they can see you.

Ride safe babe, it is worth getting skillful, it's a whole new and more enjoyable way to travel.

Joe

Re: I passed!

I'm not 100%, but every bike I have seen the headlights are either on or on high beam. My 1982 Vision is on or high, same iwth my nighthawk. They're required to be on at all times in almost every state, if not every state, so I'm not sure you can turnt hem off. This is a good thing though. The bad thing is i screwed up my wiring so my vision has no headlight...

The weather is getting great, enjoy yourself. If you lack the confidence just yet, don't force it. Take some shorter trips around the neighborhood, corner store when you need something small, etc. It'll come to you soon enough.
