Oil on top of motor, Any guess where its coming from?

Hello

I have pulled my motor for head gasket replacement. I have air in the coolant.

I just pulled the intake and have oil on top of the block on the passenger side. Any theories where this could come from?

Not a ton but enough to make it messy over time. Any theories where this comes from?

Re: Oil on top of motor, Any guess where its coming from?

thanks for the reply!

I had the motor out about 2 years ago and changed the PVC and all vacuum lines etc.... The bottom of my IRIS valve always seems to be oily but I would not think that that much oil should be coming down but i guess it could add up over the years to make the mess! Just does not seem to be anything that would leak in that area. My cam seals are a disaster so those are getting changed as well but I dont think the oil came from those.
