That's karma for you...

So a couple weeks ago a guy came into the shop with a broken Konig wheel and asked us if we could get him a new one. The wheel he had was discontinued. So he just asked us to throw all 4 wheels and tires in the garbage. I took a look, saw the wheels were 18" with a 5x114.3 lug pattern and threw them out, into my trunk! The tires are Pirelli P-Zero Nero's, with half their life on them.

So, I get online, and about 2 minutes of searching finds me a new rim on Ebay, $200 shipped. Sweet! So I get the wheel yesterday, swap the tire onto it today and instal them on the car. They look awesome! So now all that's needed is a spirited test drive.

Well at a certain speed I cannot say because it violates every speed limit in North America, I noticed the car wanted to pull left really hard. Crud. I pull over and see the left front is flat and shredding. Not to mention too hot to touch. Nuts.

I guess that's karma, huh? Almost free set of rims and tires, and now a destroyed tire. I'm going to look into getting a new tire shaved down.

It's awesome that you scored a set of wheels for so cheap. Lets see some pics.

Hmm... those wheels look very anemic on the SVX. They look too small, but hey, they were cheap! lol

Too small? They're 18x7.5"! If I do replace all 4 tires I'll go to a slightly taller set, maybe 225/45/18 instead of the 40 profile I have on now.

The wheels look nice. The spoke design makes them look a bit smaller than they are, but the wheels themselves fill up the wheel well nicely .Id replace all 4 with ones of the right sidewall diameter though

(Or get some konis and drop that truck of yours)

P.S.- did you even end up getting them doors? they not installed yet?

Maybe a 235/40/18 would be best.

The SVX has the same lug pattern as an STi?
That would be sweet I have 2 extra sets of Sti rims here and it looks like I will be picking up a pearl this week!

That sucks, but who cares if you have to buy a new tire when you got 3/4 of a set of FREE RIMS!!!

225/40/18 is actually within 1% of stock tire diameter, so everything's good with size.

Koni's...eventually. Or I may keep working on my STi suspension ideas. (I am making slow progress)

Ya, I got some doors from a local yard. Only problem is they're silver. So once they make a trip to the body shop I'll have a good looking set of doors on the car!
