Replacing fog light assembly/ 2002 Subaru Outback
Our 2002 Outback VDC wagon needs the fog light assemblies replaced. The passenger side has become cloudy on the inside (not condensation) and I just noticed that the driver's fog light was burned out. Upon inspection, I found that it was half-full of water!
I have replaced the actual bulbs when they have burned out, but want to know the proper procedure for removing the entire assemblies from the bumper and installing replacements. Liberty Subaru wants $119.00/ each for OEM replacements. is there a better option, or are there any available for sale on this site? Thanks for whatever information you can provide. .

I had to replace mine when the outside glass broke. I replaced both of them and they were about the same price as what you show. I looked and could not find anything that would be as good. I found another broken on the other day, so will have to replace one again.

I did it myself. There are just a couple of bolts that will release the whole assembley and can be replaced in about 5 minutes. My outback is a 98, but the foglights look similar to other years.

Hella ff 1000 how to
Hello SVXCESS-
I have an 03 Outback H6 and this is the best alternative that I have seen. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/...lla+fog+lights Several people there have installed smaller ( Hella 500 ? ) units and PIAA units that fit completely within the stock opening. Search and you will see them. I just got my SVX back from Tom et al at AWD with your 5000k HIDs. Awesome in the daytime, yet to be out at night. Thank you. Christian

We have two or three OB fog light assemblies in stock at the shop. I will take photos and you can let me know if they are up to your standard, that is, if you are interested in used.

John, If you could photograph the bracket where yours bolts in, I can see if it matches the ones I have. I don't have an 00-04 OB on hand to eye it up in comparison. Though I know these were from a 95-99 OB, I am confident that they are still the same diameter and that the lenses are the same.
(If the brackets are not the same, they can be changed too. )--This is all thanks to the "crash course" ( ) I've had with Outbacks as of late. --
