I'm still trying to get that off. It's almost scratched on there.

Is it still visible on the clear part??
Maybe rub it with a plastic polish??

My letters are still on there a little, like yours. I tried some plastic polish kit that attached to a drill and used foam pads. It didn't help remove the ghost lettering, but shined up the plastic. I was tempted to use scotch-brite pads to get rid of the letters and then try to polish it afterwards, but figured that would make things worse.

How does it look if reassembled without that clear piece??

Is there any shape to that piece? or is it just a flat piece of plastic with the screen at the top and over the reverse lights?

It looks best w/ the diffuser removed and the thin plastic sheet still installed. I am pondering the idea of painting or tinting the thin plastic piece to hide the imperfections, but haven't decided yet. I did the rest of the tail lights' back housings in midnight metallic, behind the red lenses, to give it a darker but reflective look and am very pleased with it.
Such a stupid little piece of plastic shouldn't be causing so much trouble.
I left it alone tonight since I have other little details to work on, but I can't stop thinking about it! err.

I got the Subaru SVX off this time. If you look hard you can find it, but it basically gone.

Well I was experimenting with somethings. I tried wet sanding it with soap and water. It got the Subaru SVX off but left it scratched and horrible looking. So then I tried Tech wax to polish. It looked worse. So I was just randomly thinking of stuff and I found an oil (kinda like baby oil) that you use on your skin. That worked. I then continued to polish the piece with a soft towel making sure the excess is wiped away....and tada! Weird, but it worked.

Now all I have to do is reattach the pieces. Later...

Is that a dimple or a crease in the plastic I see? It's probably not noticeable from 3 feet or further or even when its in the car. I tried wetsanding mine out but I ended up taking the whole sheet out instead because I messed the sheet up so bad

Nice job though.

I don't know what those "dimples" are in the picture, but they don't seem to be on the tailbar. Yeah I wet sanded it with 1500 sandpaper and it looked like crap. So I just tried using wax. Then I played with different polishes. None of them worked. So I was just desperate to try anything. So I grabbed this small bottle of oil that's for your skin after you shave. It's exactly like baby oil except it has the name brand on it (Sally Hansen [Wal-mart]). I used a very light amount.

So after removing the Subaru SVX with nail polish remover. I wet sanded the area using 1500 grit paper and diluted dawn soap. Then I used the Meguiar's Tech Wax paste (the one you use to polish the headlights). Then I used a light amount of baby oil (Johnson and Johnson should be fine) and polished only the area I wet sanded using a soft towel. Make sure all of the excess is wiped away. Then I made sure the rest of the piece was polished and free of finger prints.

This is what worked for me. I always recommend getting an extra tailbar to practice on. Murphys Law...if you don't have an extra one..you'll mess up.
