That is Stevesby's bumper if I am not mistaken. AND it is by far and a way the hottest thing in that picture.

Yes it's Stevesby"s bumper, and that is Stevesby in front of it

I should take offense to that second remark ....but everyone is entitled to their opinion

Not the only one. My father owned both a 1955 and a 1957 Cadillac. Approaching my teenage years, I knew all too well who Dagmar was... Ahh! the fifties... birth of the bullet bumpers and the bullet bra.

Talking The ULTIMATE dagmar bumper!

The most bodacious incarnation of the dagmar bumper was found on the 1959 Cadillac Cyclone show car
(Do a images search for more photos)

The panel in the center of the door was used for paying tolls at the toll booth
.

These were the days of pure natural rubber... Silicone had yet to be invented

Actually, the two-passenger automobile had a clear plastic cover that fit snugly against the panoramic windshield to give the driver true 360 degree vision. When not in use, the power-operated canopy folded backward beneath the surface of the trunk deck and it automatically closed when a sensor detected rain. It automatically lifted out of the way when either door is opened. At a touch of a button, the Cyclone's doors moved outward from the car three inches. Moving smoothly on ball bearings, they slid back for easy entrance. Among its advanced engineering features was a radar device which scanned the highway, and warned the driver electronically of objects in its path. Large, twin nose cones in the front of the car housed the proximity-sensing units.

They electronically alert the driver with both an audible signal and a warning light if an object is in its path. An intercommunication system allowed passengers to converse with persons outside the automobile without raising the canopy.

More photos and information can be found HERE

DANG!!

i had the perfect video to link too.........
but the linky no worky!!

it was a BIG crash on the front straight of a bunch of small sedan road racers...caused by ONE car getting out of shape.....

the slo-mo shows the reason for the accident....the driver looks 90 degrees to his right along the pit wall to see a girl who has hoisted her shirt toward him.....

LMAOROTFPMP!!!!!!!
oh gawd that would have been such a perfect vid to tie into this thread at this juncture............

I had to dagmar after that first post..hehe

Yes I was at the Dragon...yes I met you at the bon fire (briefly)
and
Yes you were clutching your cranium in your hands as you looked up towards the sky while your poor poor baby was cock-eyed on the right side of the road. Remember it like yesterday...that was a bad day (bike accident, Miata accident, boat in front of the crew most of the ride.)

Smiles,
Melis

*edit: It was not at the bon fire..it was at the restaurant.
