Front Differential Question

Would it be possible install a new SVX ring and pinion (part #38100AA551) into a 4.11/4.44 transmission?

Would this be a straight forward swap, as far as working with differentials is concerned? I know setting up a differential is not for the faint of heart, I would not be doing the work, a professional would be.

I get myself into enough trouble right now with the stock ratios, I really don't need the extra acceleration that 4.11/4.44's would give me!

Thanks in Advance,
Dan

It can be done but it's much easier to just swap the entire tranny.

Why not just do the whole swap?? If a mech is willing to do the front diff I am sure he will be more than willing to do the rear diff

I'm just trying to explore all of my options before the transmission goes bye-bye.

I tend to have a 'heavy' right foot, I'm afraid the lower gearing might get me into even more trouble . . .

Interesting, I drive much slower in our 4.44 than I do in my 3.54. Those stock gears are made for high speed cruising, and I can't resist 80-90 mph. I really enjoy the lower 4.44 gears for driving around at home in the mountains, 60mph and less.

If you are mostly highway, stock gears are great. A mix of highway/mountains, probably 4.11 gears would be satisfying.

Yes, you can put the 3.54 diff on any trans of the same vintage.
