Timing Belt
Does anyone see the ebay auction for the timing belt?
It's listed around $45.00 at a buy it now price. Any feedback if it is better to buy from subaruparts at a price of around $76.00 or take a chance getting this one?....assuming it's not cracked and brand new? |

I would just buy a new one. I wouldnt trust ebay for something like a timing belt....if you get screwed then youve wasted 40 bucks and you gotta spend another 80 for subaru parts. I would just go with the genuine subaru stuff.

Unless you could see it, you don't know if it is old. They will check after time laying around on the shelf.

I agree. Don't try to save a few bucks on something like a timing belt.

I was sort of thinking that I would end up spending 40 and then get it and it would have little cracks worn into it and then I'd have to spend another 80 to get a "newer" one.........$120 bucks......
Thanks guys.....I'd better play it safe and get from Subaruparts. |

I had the same reservations about buying a timing belt on ebay, but my curiousity got the best of me....it was the price. I was replacing many oil seals at the same time so anything I could save I tried to. I purchased one back in the summer and was surprised at the quality....no cracks, dust...looked brand new, fit like a glove. I've never had a problem with it!

It's so tempting to get one off of Ebay though, just like you guys said............What if I got one from Subaru that's been sitting on the shelf for a few years and has some small cracks??
I think I'm going to flip a coin or something to make a choice. |

I assume you will not be picking it up from the dealer in person?
I have never gotten ANY kind of belt for car, snowmobile, motorcycle etc. that arrived with cracks. That is 25+ years of working on my own stuff and working in a NAPA store for awile. Has anyone else had this happen?
