Stereo memory resets w/ A/C on!!
Anyone run into this with an aftermarket stereo...
ALPINE aftermarket stereo will lose its' memory once in a while... only when I run the A/C!! Annoying!! Does this happen to anyone before?? Seems like excessive amp/ stereo draw with it a/c on?? Ideas? |

I have an Alpine (CDA-7995) and have never experienced a memory reset (typed with fingers crossed) other than when the battery was deliberately disconnected.
Are you using the OEM wiring for the stereo? How - with svxdc's harness, twisted & taped, soldered, etc? IF you have a newer unit and are using the internal amp, did you run a separate power lead (8 gauge?) as suggested - the internal Alpine amps do seem to have more output (and hence power draw) than the competition. My best guess without any first hand knowledge is that there is a marginal connection to the constant power line. The A/C draw would lower the voltage a bit, maybe enough so that with a poor connection the system drops it's memory. |

Lee,
I am running 8 guage straight to the battery from the amp, I have the SVX alternator wire upgrade, and yes I'm using John's harness with the wires crimped (professional like!), running to fusion battery terminals on a optima battery. ....Good idea about the battery. Maybe I 'm running on a loose terminal. I'll have to check that one! thanks! my only other guess would be that the constant power wire (the one that retains memory/clock) is somehow making a poor connection, like the crimp connector itself is bad, the wire broke some strands on shoving it all back in, etc. that will suck just to pull it out for maybe nothing. I'll keep thinking to see if there's something else easy to check & post back if my brain kicks in.
