Re: Hydra Nemesis

Hmm, fairly certain it uses a straight through female to female DB9 serial cable. The one that comes with the Hydra was about 4-5 feet.

A really unrefined search on e-bay produced this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/DB9-Serial-RS232...3%3A1|294%3A50

Hope this helps,

I got that cable that came with the Hydra but I have no port on any laptop here that accepts it...

Also scroll up to post #219 in this thread... here is a direct link: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...&postcount=219

What Mike posted is also great, the only reason I didn't go with a USB adapter was I remember YT mentioned that Hydra is very sensitive and does not work well with USB adapters. There are quite a few topics on this subject on the Hydra forums.

Is that okay to use? It is what I would need to physically hook my hydra up to my laptop....

Re: Hydra Nemesis

I got to drive "hydrated" stock engine with 6 speed manual at Reading. All I can say is: WOW!

It is totally a night and day difference than using a stock ECU. All the hesitation, chattering and bucking is virtually gone. It drives so much smoother. Anyone with a manual transmission really should try it and see it. I'm definitely sold, once I get a real job

Re: Hydra Nemesis

Tom,
My new checkbook is in the mail and will be here in 7-10 business days, as soon as it gets here I will write you the check for my hydra and get it in the mail.

My question though is... how nice is it to have a wideband wired into your setup and not have to wait to go to the dyno to get the AFR? Is it worth the price?? I'm trying to decide if I want to get one or not still.

If you have the extra cash for it... Def shoot for the wideband

Re: Hydra Nemesis

Just got my hydra yesterday woot! What does ther little purple tube go to on the car? Haven't finished reading the manual yet I'm sure it says but I was just curious if I could get a quick answer, also how did everyone mount theirs in?

Re: Hydra Nemesis

Honestly, with the space constraints there is no good way to make a bracket to hold it in place. Se what we have done thus far is to use some cable ties to strap it to the mounting plate for the stock ECU once all is tucked up under the dash.

The purple/blue tube is the vacuum line for the onboard MAP sensor. That needs to be tapped into a vacuum source. Commonly we tap into the fuel pressure regulator hose on the rear RH side of the intake manifold. Might need to playa round with hose diameters, cannot remember what size I have used with all the different setups over the years

Re: Hydra Nemesis

Anyone have pictures of how/where they tapped into the fuel pressure regulator?

Sorry I have so many dumb questions, I'm still learning, i'd love to know as much as half of you guys, but I'm far from that level still . Thanks for your patience
