How much should a custom brake kit cost...

Option (A)= 6-pot front (18inch wheels), 4-pot rear...

Option (B)= 4-pot front (17inch wheels), 4-pot rear.

I know that this is mod related but at that stage it is still under the price estimation phase only.

The sales manager at Mov-it turned out to be Lebanese , I am trying to work a reasonable price with him for a full VENTILATED kit for the SVX.

I still think it is a long shot that we can get a good price, much lower than quoted, but well it is worth the try.

Please need your feedback about reasonable kit prices.

CUSTOM is the problem... Mov-it has a kit for the fronts at price of $2700 I believe.

Re: How much should a custom brake kit cost...

There are 4 options for the front.

Three of them are 4 pots each with a larger diameter than the other, whereas the 4th one is 6 pot.

You may be ahead of me on this one. I was going to talk to the folks at Baer about some of their radial mount setups.

As they say, the more the merrier... go ahead man, I am getting nothing out of this, I just want to buy an excellent 6pot/4pot kit for a reasonable price (through a group buy) if possible...

Re: How much should a custom brake kit cost...

Cheapest option would be to get the wilwood 6-pots and have custom brackets made for them about .5" shorter... Really I have been trying to get to this for a long time but $ and time have been short for a project like this

These are Sti brembo calipers and rotors bolted to an SVX hub... Yes they align perfectly in the sense of offset

Re: How much should a custom brake kit cost...

So we need to simply move that caliper in 1/2" towards the hub center.....

Yes but the Sti Calipers cannot be used simple because they are one piece.

The wilwoods are 2-piece... Caliper and Bracket are seperate. So a new bracket that will allow the caliper to sit ~.5" toward the hub center= WIN!

Tom (wishes he had $ to spend on new brakes)

1pc vs 2pc.... why does that matter?

Re: How much should a custom brake kit cost...

1 piece means that the caliper and the mounting points are all on unit... If it need to be pushed off the hub that would be possible with an extra bracket. But since it needs to come in, the whole assembly would need to be modified. Since the Wilwoods are 2 piece... You can scrap that bracket they give you and use a custom one you have machined... Thus solving the fitment issue
