Just in case anyone wasn't following the "Boom" thread. The journal sizes on the crankshafts for the EG33 are the same as the 2.0l turbo, 2.2l, and the 2.5 turbo motors. This means we can use the Con rods either from these motors or their aftermarket rods as well. i personally will be going with a set of Eagle H-beam rods to compliment the StageIII pistons and Clevite bearings
Tom Edit: Just make sure the height of the rod is the same... 5.137" |

That's correct, those rods and bearings are compatible. The Eagles are a good choice for FI.

What about the bearings? Got a press?

What bearings need to be pressed?? The pins are held by circlips not pressed in. THe pin bearings "should" come pressed into the rods
But in case I do have to press them... I do have a press Tom |

Timing
Mike:
Any idea when a complete upgrade package would be tested and available? I'm looking at doing everything you have outlined (heads, valve train, pistons, bearings). I am also not too far from you in Orlando, so let me know if you need some heads to start working on. You are in Miami? Tampa? Thanks Chuck D.

I guess i'll start a piston thread pretty soon. I guess here is as good as anywhere to say all those who want to order pistons in the first batch get ready to order. We will be ordering them sometime this week.

Boy you really want me to get the machine work done on your heads don't you. Ok, I suppose I can take them with me to Miami and take them to the machine shop I'm using for my heads.
The pistons you need to be ready to order sometime this week. I'm progressing on the camshafts but don't have a timeframe on the valves yet so all I can say is have core camshafts ready in a couple of weeks. Quote:

That would be great. I would really prefer to use someone you trust doing valves and especially porting and installing the Cams. Plus you are so close. Any idea what this would run yet?

The machine shop I use in Miami is trustworthy; I don't even ask what something is going to cost when I drop it off--I just drop it off and it costs what it costs.
You install the cams after the heads are bolted to the engine so you'll be doing that yourself. Quote:

Mike, do we have the specs on what the diameters of the valve will be... Or should I have my shop fully prep the heads after I have the new valves and spring etc... If I can just get a valve job and a head resurface I will do that with a little porting and polishing as well. Let me know what I should be telling my machine shop

I think we'll stick with stock diameter valves so all we have to do is resurface the seats. You're still going to want to wait till you have the valves on hand to take your heads to the machine shop so he can put them in.

Well If I can get the head resurfaced, I am not affraid of installing my own valves... Just need to find the right spring compressor. If you suggest I have them set the valves... so be it
