Fall Colors Tour 7 - Run to Bavaria

Yes, the longest running SVX tradition in the Pacific Northwest will continue!

This year will be Fall Colors Tour 7: Run to Bavaria

After not running a driving tour for a couple of years, I'm going back to my roots and laying claim to my original creation now!

Date will be announced as soon as the Vancouver guys figure out when the Columbia Gorge Run is. FCT7 will take place after that but before the snow sets in to the passes. Probably sometime in October to enjoy the fall colors.

As the name implies, we will be driving to the Bavarian village in Leavenworth, WA. A fairly straightforward highway shot there, with an extra scenic and challenging loop part of the way back. Overall keeping it fairly simple and fun.

Actual tour mileage and time will be a lot less than the past few - less gas, more time in Leavenworth, and allows for a later start/earlier finish for those that have to travel (and more time to hang out afterwards if anyone wants to make a weekend of it).

Keep watching this space for updates and don't forget this is coming up soon!

Argh... Sorry we haven't posted anything yet (I havent loggedin in like a month ). I need to talk with Mark (I know he mentioned to Jill he was gonna call me soon). It has just been way to crazy lately (new job, my svx got backed into, plus Mark has had some very serious personal things to deal with as some of you saw in one of his posts). I am not even sure I can get a day off in September, but regardless, I am gonna try, and at worst, I'll still help plan the route.

Just a note- It won't be the Gorge again (since that was last year). If everything is still "the plan" Mark and I talked about, we have something "uber" in mind. When we get details I'll make sure one of us gets something posted ASAP!

Talk to everyone soon!

I talked to Mark on Saturday and sounds like he's pretty excited about doing something that should be fairly easy for everyone to attend (kinda in the "middle" distance-wise).

Just a matter of coming up with an interesting route, which is always a challenge, but at least in the NW it is a little easier than some other places.

Have you thought about a date for this yet?
I have a friend coming from the Eas Coast and she really wants to see the Fall colors here. She will be here the end of Oct. And her b-day is Halloween

Re: Fall Colors Tour 7 - Run to Bavaria

My weekends in Oct are quickly filling up and I might do this 2nd weekend of Oct just because there is nothing else open.

I'm also shying away from the end of Oct as in the past we have had worse luck with weather the later we go in the month. Not to mention most of the leaves are dropped by mid month. Also, with going over the pass this year, snow is a consideration. Not the SVX doesn't mind snow, but some drivers might.

That would be October 11. If you confirm this, I will get it on my calendar.
