Theft Recovery

Well, attempted theft. And while unsuccessful, they did manage to make quite a mess of it.

Re: Theft Recovery

Looks like the work of amateur idiots. It's easy, just like in the movies. Smash the crap out of the steering column and rub 2 wires together and away you go. NOT.
Obviously they did far more damage than the value of anything they stole. Manual conversion too, what a bummer.

Re: Theft Recovery

Ah, sounds like my GMC 4x4 they tried to steal one snowy night. They broke the window, hot wired the ignition but it wouldn't start so they left it.
It was my secret kill switch. You had to crawl under the truck and tap on the starter with a hammer to get it to spin.
A couple of weeks later the dealership called and said the truck was all fixed but it wouldn't start. Sadly they wouldn't replace the starter as part of the insurance job.

I wired up a hidden switch in the starter circuit of my Dakota. Very helpful when it's your only vehicle and your wife likes to take off in the middle of the night to smoke crack and leave you stranded in the morning unable to get to work

Sounds to me like the wife needs the kill switch.

Re: Theft Recovery

Well here's the replacement for now. Needed more room and towing capacity.
When it's time for another SVX I will take the time to find a pristine garage queen
