Never got around to installing it myself, but bought it from another Network member (Burgundy Beast) who assured me that it was working fine when removed from his car). -- Joe

And you trusted him? just kidding - you can trust him.

This is just the CD player and not the Tape player and radio or complete set up - right?

It works great I took it out of my car a little less than a year ago.

I have a question on this....my factory stereo cassette is on the bottom with the pocket instead of the cover on the top portion..is it possible for me to add the factory cd player? any help appreciated..also my car is wired for a powered sub or amp...complete with rca's and ground, power, and remote lead...not sure how they did this with the factory unit......

The factory cd player will connect directly to the factory cassette player via the 8pin cable that comes from the cd player.

The RCAs in your car most likely do nothing, and here's why:
The SVX was never sold with a pocket, if it was one of the lower models without the cd player, a plastic plate that says "Subaru" would have been in the place of the cd player. Also, the cassette player is supposed to be on the top, not the bottom. So my guess would be that the (or a) previous owner had an aftermarket cd player installed, pulled it before he sold it, and was too lazy to remove the wires so he just left them there, and then threw the cassette player back in with the first thing he found to fill the empty spot.

However, there is a chance that a line-level converter was used. This would basically let you use your speaker wire as RCAs to hook up to an amp.
