In California, over 100 mph is reckless driving, but I wasn't thrown in jail for it. However, seeing the price of the fine will make most people wish they went to jail instead.

i have recently got out of three tickets...

each time the cop saw the hand control in my car, then saw the wheelchair in the back......then for whatever reason they usually give me a warning or let me go.

i was tailgating a cop on a busy street, he was in an unmarked car, and of course he pulled me over. told him i was just in rush and trying to get back to work.....warning.

coming on to the interstate doing about 80 in a 65 and the cop gunned me down and pulled me over. walked up to my car and said, "are those hand controls?" yes, they are i said. "my brother-in-law uses those on his van, but he doesnt drive quite as fast as you do. slow it down and get on out of here." i was so damn happy.

coming off the interstate going to work and and gunned down again. about 75 in a 45. cop pulled me over and told him i didnt realize i was going so fast. then he suddenly asked me if i could walk. i said no and so he asked me how i drive. i showed him. 15 minutes later he got all religious on me. of course i had to go along with it or get a ticket. needless to say in the end he wrote me a warning and sent me on my way.

life is grand.

sorry about the ticket Zombie.

oh and lwin, if you even tried that hardline approach down here they would pull your a$$ out of the car, cuff you and put you in the back of the police cruiser while they searched your car. dont try that stuff down here.

You got that right. It pays to be polite in the south. People in the south are always polite, and smile (even though, they're cussin' you through their smiling teeth). The politer, the better. Attitude is NOT an option.

Illinois Law

In Illinois, if you go double the speed of the speed limit, they can drag your a$$ in jail -- as well as the passengers. The reasoning behind that is that the passengers are supposed to stop the driver from driving that fast

In IN, if you go over 90, you go to jail. Slow down in IN people.

Lwin

ps. I should install smoke screen for going down south. Oh... I already have one from the tranny fluid burning

Lwin do you actually have a microphone mounted on your dash? That is actually one of the best ideas (defenses) that I have heard in a long time. I think I am going to do that myself. The tape can not only be used as evidence but also shows the cop that you have some idea about the law, which will likely encourage them to let you off with a warning. At least I hope so. Tell me about your setup please....

I used to have it hooked up to my computer. Currently, it's just a wire. You can get them at a computer/electronic store for about 5-15 dollars. Stick it and run your wires behind the plastic molding. If you want, get a tape recorder and plug it in.

I think mostly, its the shock and confusion that let me off with a warning. If you are being recorded, he can not say anything wrong since that is usable in court -- also since you warned him. So he can't touch you if you fully cooprate with him since his voice is recorded. And who like to have their voice recorded by a stranger anyway? So if I were a cop, I'd say get out of here.

I too have a radar detector as well. However, I also drove the past 3 months or so without one. You don't really need one in reality. If you look at the traffic patterns, you can tell if a cop is ahead of you. Also, slow down near overpasses, and turns or any place cops can hide behind.

Think like a cop that wants to hand out tickets and you will begin to notice patterns. I have recently seen cops hunting in packs in IL. If you see one state trooper, within the next 2 miles or so, chances are you will see at least 2 more.

One ticket does not a reputation make !!!!
Over the years, I have accumulated more speeding tickets from the Nu Joisey Turnpike than they have hanging chads in Florida.

I had that happen to me. However oddly enough I wasn't driving the SVX or my sportbike at the time....damn Sunfire....

I got caught doing 92 in a 55. Yes they put me into a little driving class which cost me $160. The funny part was, it was tons of fun. Got to play with threshold braking, skid recovery, J-turns.

Hopefully your's will be fun too.

Man! I wanna get caught where you do! We just sit and watch cartoons of Pluto transforming from Mr. Nice to Mr. Road Rage, along with a few testimonials from people who've been affected by the circumstances caused by speeding drivers. 4 Hours of lectures and videos. YUK! I'd much rather them teach me how to speed more safely. O'course, our school only costs about 35.00.

that is what we have here too randy...

unfortunately i have taken that class twice. it really does suck. some stupid video, lecture, test. the really ignorant thing, is that he gives you the answers to the test before he hands it out. i mean he literally goes over every question giving you the answer and then passes out the test.

In Kentucky you can do school at home, can't you? Last I heard they had four different tests and I know of a couple people that copied their answers for later usage.

Luckily, we don't even have to take a test. We just "discuss." Oh well. If it saves me the points and the insurance increase, I'll sit thorough it every other week if I have to.
