And I'll give a big AMEN! Although I did enjoy and appreciate the fact that they took some chances with their ads ("Drive so fast, you'll get so many tickets, you'll lose your license" -- which, to me, has been somewhat prophetic ), they just didn't do "enough" to promote the car. I'd never heard of one. Of course, Subarus, in general, have never been popular in our part of the country. Nonetheless, the marketing should've been widespread enough so that the entire country would've gotten an inkling. "Where Suckers Moon" probably explains the pitfalls best. Check it out. Auto-up window feature?
Either I don't have one of those, it doesn't work, or I've never noticed it.

Just hit the control all the way up and the window will auto scroll til it can't go anymore. That's all that is.

Auto-up feature was only available on 92's and, I think, 93's. As the article said, it was considered hazardous, so the feature was discontinued. Interesting thing is, if you want the feature, next time you need to replace your main window switches, just order the part number for the 92. It's still available, or, at least it was when I ordered mine. By the same token, those with 92's who don't want the feature, can order the window switch cluster for the 94+ models.

re: marketing
Remember the TV ads introducing the XT? A farmer-type father and son commeserate over a new car for the latter and decide it's time for a new Subaru. Son heads into town and returns -- careening down dirt roads and fording a stream -- in a new XT. Father sez, "Son, I thought we agreed you'd buy a new Subaru," to which son replies, "But Dad, I did!"
Best Subaru ad I've seen, period. dcb |
