Whale...

it's spelled W-H-A-L-E...good thing there's no such thing as a wale or this thread would spin off on yet another tangent.
WGJ
By the way...I was sales manager of a motorcycle shop in S. Maryland in '72 and sold several R5's. They were considered large at the time and they were spooky smooth. They were almost to transverse fours what transverse fours were to vertical twins. And futuristic/spacey looking compared to it's peers. I thought my metallic green Moto Guzzi V7 750 Sport was way better lookin' but there was no comparison smootheness wise. The Guzzi's 1/4 V8 transverse engine vibrated like crazy (numb hands in 20 min on freeway) and leaned over to the right like a BMW when revved at a stand still. The R5 smoothly and effortlessly went like stink.

How do you like that black stripe?
And what do you mean "upgraded" alternator? Where did you get it and does it fit OEM?

I installed the black door trim to protect the car from dings, and to balance the look of the car from the black and white. The upgraded alternator has a higher amperage output, the previous owner had it installed to accommodate the 1200 watt stereo system that he had.

LURKERS!!! THIS MEANS YOU!!!

Ok, so you never wanted to post. Maybe you never had anything to say... Maybe there was never an excuse to chime in on or in another thread...

This is your chance... please Say hi! Tell us how long you've been looking

Regulars CHECK IN TOO!!!

No control on this... but maybe if we stuck to one post each it would help too....

Thanks!

(perhaps this could be a Sticky as we approach the 3000 member mark)????

(Edit: I noticed that some have stated that they don't want the list purged. That is not why I wanted to do this. I was hoping that we could just get an idea of how many of the close to 3000 are still with us... I know that many wax and wane ... and I don't desire to lose any more posts than have already been lost.)
Hi...I'm Sommer...Huck's daughter. I just read posts, mostly so I can get a head start on dad when he starts talking about people's SVXi.

Checking in

>>As we approach 3000 members
>>I would like to know how many active members & lurkers we actually have.

Greetings!

Registered in ‘02, lurking before that (and since, mostly). Bought my ‘92 LS-L (black over claret, gray leather) in ‘95 w/26,000 miles. Believe I’m the 2nd owner. It was my daily driver until I picked up an ‘01 Legacy GT Wagon in May ‘04 (kayaks and skis look SO wrong on top of the SVX). IMHO, the SVX is the best all-weather GT car I’ve ever driven.

Currently 268,000 miles and climbing (albeit slowly). Factory rebuilt transmission at 47,000 still (mostly) going strong, thanks to bi-yearly fluid changes. Replaced: radiator, alternator, water pump, 1 fan, window switches, many timing belts, brake pads/rotors, tires, batteries, hoses etc. AFAIK, original exhaust & shocks (OK, the shocks really gotta go). Survived being rear-ended by a Ford Taurus (the Taurus didn’t). Needs: TLC in/out, which I currently don’t have the time or $$ to do. Am considering selling, if I can find someone who appreciates it (and as you can see from my sig, I have a problem selling anything...).

Hi, Sommer! Glad to see you on the board. Tell your dad to get you your own SVX so you can do the 5MT swap (make it a family tradition). BTW, your Pop's old car is doing well.
