Re: SVX engine with 0 miles!

Manufacturers normally mark up parts by a lot! If you pieced together a 'new' SVX from the ground up - part by part - I'm +ve it'll easily run you with over 70K.

It would be nice, but whole SVX engine assemblies are no longer available from Subaru. They are only available while the car is being produced. After that, you have to piece them together yourself. You could buy a new short block though (approx. $1,800). That would give you all new pistons and a crankshaft. With the exception of the heads, you'd have a 0 mile engine!

Sounds like a bargain to me!! Add a valve job, new T-belt, oil and H2O pumps, miscellaneous belt-tensioners, seals, etc and it's good as new. But being the bottom ends of these motors are so bulletproof not something you'd have to worry about til well over 200K or more, as long as maintenance is kept up. Nice to dream about though! 0-Mile Drivetrain mmmmmmmmmmm!

The shortblock is available. You just have to wait for it from Japan
