Troy, that is what I am following in Sport Compact Car magazine.
Starting with the April issue, they have a SVT Focus project car.
Their....goal....is to make it perform better than the SVT Cobra Mustang.
Not to stir things up, but I could do that for under 10 grand with another 'economy' car... INCLUDING the cost of the car.

Hi Don,

Well Toyota did about 1000 HP for their 2.0l 4-cyl All-Trac Celica Pikes Peak record. I seem to remember BMW's F1 4-banger some years back was based (loosely) on the 320i engine and they were over 1000 on an engine dyno.

No NOS...Just need turbos...and enough duct tape to make it stay in one piece.

But what HAS happened to CA$H ? A bit of scandel won't go amiss in this thread and in some ways I miss him and would like to know the full story.

1000 hp

You know guys, talking about 700hp and 200mph on this or any petrolhead forum is a little like describing your Close Encounter to a bunch of Trekkies.

We all want to believe.

Except of course the cynics and unwashed out there.

In Japan, the likes of the Midnight Club actually do run 200 mph cars, and they build them using a combination of brute force and ignorance.

By brute force I mean they spend big bucks uprating engines and drivetrains of cars like RX7s and Supras and Skylines. The ignorance bit is where they strip out the interiors and put on lightweight doors, glass, hoods etc, and replace with carbon fibre seats and so on, making the car uninhabitable for all but the most hearing-challenged dance music fans.

When you look at how difficult it has been for the likes of Ferrari and Bugatti and so on to break the 200 mph barrier with seriously powerful and well engineered cars, it should be obvious that to achieve it with an SVX or any 140 mph car, there has to be a lot of real HP and serious compromise.

Me, I am keeping my SVX stock, although lowering the final drive ratio looks tempting. I will wait a few years until a low mileage Ferrari 456 comes within my price range, then I will fly the coupe.

Joe

Talking World's fastest SVXs for sale.....

message from the Yahoo group....

<<THey are both 1992 SVX's pearl white in color and have speeds up to 235-253mph, both been modified internally like engine and etc. selling the fastest for 18,000 and the other for 16,000 one has a spoiler and one has a bodykit, both the same specs. except for the turbos 1 has the 2 T-86 turbos and the other has 2 T-51 proto, the fastest is the one with the MT and the other is AT transmission, the fastest can be seen on www.necronomicon.gq.nu on page 4 very bottom and the other i'll send a picture to you. i need to get rid of these to finish another SVX I'm in the middle of making for to break the street top speed recordhoping to make it hit 265mph with NOS, hoping not to blow the engine or any other part.
E-mail me and i'll send you a pic of the 3rd running, also selling
extra turbos like 3 T-15's and 1 T-83, and i'll give you the price.
Talon "Phantom" Truesdell call me at 1-406-761-7445 if any buyer's.
P.S. I 'll send the next fastest SVX picture to you here an a week or 2 the one i'm building for the record it will also be on TV on NBC for street express topic. video clips will be on Kazaa for people to download in a 3week period. >>

(YMMV....)

We already know it's fake. The pic came from Dayle's site.

It's not going to happen. No SVX will ever surpass 200mph.
