Really sorry to hear this man, hope you get your car back.

I am paranoid about leaving my car open, never mind running with the keys in it.

Could I suggest that anyone who has to do this for warmup uses a second key, and locks the car while it is warming??

Joe

That really sucks. If I were you, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that it could have be neighborhood kids wanting to joy ride.
I hope you get your car back,
Dave.

Thanks to everyone for your concern. I am a mechanic and therefore have never carried anything but liability on my cars because if I get in a wreck, I can fix it. So I am basically screwed. You can bet that I am beating myself up over that.

When I get home tonight, I will post the vin #. Good Idea.

Mike

Very stupid question, but is there any chance it rolled outta the driveway??? I know yeah, dumb question, but a friend of mine's parents used to live in this house with a steep driveway... one day his dad was going to leave for work and the car was gone... he kinda freaked out because he thought it was stolen... but then he freaked out even more when he realized it rolled down the driveway, across the street, and THROUGH the empty garage of his 'across the street' neighbor. :/

Man, I hope we catch who took it. I only hope they didn't hurt it... just took it for a spin and left it somewhere.... I've always thought about 'moving' peoples cars when they leave them running. Thought that it'd be kinda funny to move it a few spots away in the parking lot or something, but realized the consequences of such a 'prank'.

I had my car roll down a slight incline back an alley. The car rolled almost a full block, and finally stopped when it hit a dumpster. It scared me to death. Stupid broken shift lock.

<the car is so unusual that it should be fairly easy to spot>

That was MY first thought. I had a car stolen once when I worked near D.C......I know that sick feeling you get in your stomach....the cops called me two days later saying it had been recovered up in Maryland on the beltway. It was in good shape. I hope you have similar luck.
Don

Be sure to post over on the Yahoo site....

You have to be an admin to send a mess email. I am not sure if vbullitin has that feature either. But a good idea. Send it with the colour/plate/vin and any other noticable features.

Wow - and I thought I had a bad day. Best of luck in finding your car in one piece. I would be a complete wreck if mine was stolen. I can't even imagine what you're going through. I wish there was a way to help. We'll all be watching for anything unusual to turn up online.

I'm sorry to hear it . Good luck with finding it I'm sure it will turn up. Do you work in a bad area? And are SVX's easy to steal without the key?

Aw **** man that sucks ass I am always afrade someday something like that could happen to my baby. LIke they say tho maybe it is good the SVX cause it will be hard to get rid off or even part so they may give up and leave it somewhere. Man let us know the plate and we can watch out for it up here in Seattle area lots of hot cars from the northwest end up in the ports of Seattle for overseas smuggling. I can help pick out your unusual car and verify the plate number and then beat the **** out of him with a tire iron if need be.

Man that sucks!!! I'll keep an eye out on Ebay...I also only have liability on my car because I work at a body shop and can fix anything that happens to it...but after reading this I may upgrade to collision because I never thought about this! Hope you get it back in the shape it was stolen and soon!

Megan
