O/T: If he had an SVX it would have been 20 transmissions!

Pretty impressive! I was 1/3 of the way there with my 626 before it called it quits

I had an 85 accord that I treated like every day was the last day I had to dog the car before someone stole it. It still didn't complain. I bought the thing for $800 with 180,000 miles on it and drove it to 255,000 when I traded it in for my svx for $500. I only did that then because the synchronizer on the fifth gear wore out so I couldn't use that gear anymore. There were two times that I had the engine to over 8500 rpm for several seconds on a red line of 6250. Man did it ever go through cv axles though. . . just like my wheel bearings now.

I had an 86 Accord that I bought at 114,000 miles. I drove it to 206,000. Since I was fairly young and it was only my second car, I frequently took it up to redline and acted as if I was in a drag race from practically every stop light. Lots of problems such as cv-boots, ball joings, tie rod ends, things like that, but the engine and transmission remained solid as ever. I dind't even keep up with fluid changes very well.

I sold it because I wanted something faster.
That was one of the worst mistakes of my life. The car would have lasted me through college with little maintenance, but now I'm driving something I can't afford.
