new machine - new products

My buddy got a new machine , lazer cutter, and or water jet
thign too, pretty cool.

We have been playing with some ideas for some cool fun new
products...
starting off small and simple, key chains.
next will be some new battery hold downs, and some other
underhood tidbits, and probably a dashcluster new bezel...

the cool thing about it, the ideas are limitless, with some materials
we are going to use is ABS, plexi or aluminum and the finish
options are going to be pretty cool too...
just stay tuned...

Re: new machine - new products

The SVX battery tie down would be nice.

maybe a durable H-6 cover but not sure how that would work out.

Re: new machine - new products

Sweet!! I don't know if it's possible, but how about cutting an SVX model into clear or coloured Lexan or coloured poly carbonate, and then sealing it in with a flat clear piece, so it'd float and reflact light like a holograph?

Or, the same kind of idea, cut double sided into polished aluminum, and then covered both sides in clear Lexan or poly carbonate?

Key chain size, please! Or, how about the same thing, but on a larger scale? Something like this?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/b0337-b-Mars...item2ebee70416

I got one for my band room, it looks kickin', just because of the way the light shines down straight through the plastic and then hits where the writing was cut into the plastic. They don't show it, but it's just a simple flourescent tube over the top of the plastic.

Besides the silver SVX keychain, the German market also offered a three-piece set of soft-sided, black leather luggage, designed to fit in the trunk of the SVX. Had the embossed logo and everything.

Many years ago, I had a chance to pick up the smallest of the set on the German ebay site. The leather was very dried out, faded and cracked and not very usable. It also had a very high price on it..

I posted a photo of this from a German SVX brochure.

Re: new machine - new products

Dayle,

Water jet machine = mild steel or stainless steel flanges for exhaust headers (SmallCar folks are the only ones currently offering these in support of their EG33 into Vanagon market - you should be able to offer these at a lower price and still make money on them)

Water jet machine = aluminum belt cover to replace stock plastic piece

Water jet machine = aluminum plate that you could use with a stock subie shifter boot for those of us with 5 or 6 speed swaps. Currently have to hack up the stock plastic piece or hack up the plastic piece out of an STi or WRX.

Water jet machine - aluminum replacement for the stock front facia piece in front of the radiator - you could cut SVX out of the aluminum and then use a sheet metal brake to bend tabs to secure it to the cross member.

Laser etcher - stick with key fobs, just make them thinner that what you were showing so those of us that drive our SVXi to work don't have coworkers wondering if "we're glad to see them"

Cheers,
Bill

p.s. I'm going to be out at UA at the end of the month for NASA business. How far is your shop from the UA campus?
