Propane back-up

3 years ago, I bought a propane back-up heater from Tractor Supply.
I also bought a Vanguard, blue flame heater from Southern States.
The Tractor Supply unit was built be Energroup, Cleveland ,Ohio.
I LOVE it!!! I went back to get another one. There was none there.
The Vanguard was such a disapointment, that I will cringe even worse than I did when my Vanguard Money market tanked.
I now, till tomorrow night, own a PRO_COM propane heater. It will be boxed back up on Wed, and I will be RETURNING it to Tractor Supply.

IF they can not provide me with a similar heater to the one that I bought 3 years ago, for a similar price, I will be asking for a refund!
The one I bought 3 years ago was built in Cleveland. The POS that I hauled home tonite was built in CHINA!
I'm sorry, I can't HEAR the PHONE ring, because the FAN on this PIECE OF CRAP CHINESE heater drowns it OUT!

GRRRRR!!!

This 'heater' is SUCH a disapointment! PRO-COM is S##T! NEVER waste your time hauling one of them HOME!!

IF you were freezing to death, it would seem like a deal. I lit this POS an hour and a half ago. I'm still wearing my 3rd layer! The 'papers' say that it will heat 700 Sq feet. BS!!! I'm in a 500 SQ ft room and I'm not HAPPY!!

Key word "CHINA". Everything is going to crap. Even all of our knives are made in china now. I always look for the "Made in USA" but it is soooo hard to find now.

My 'fine China' was poured in AMERICA!!
I will be hauling this POS heater back to tractor supply and buying the 'caboose pot belly stove' that Southern States offers for $550.
Then I can burn coal or wood and be WARM!
I already have a 1947 pot belly in my kitchen. It does great!
This shack is 125 feet long and has been here for 165 years.
I'm trying to heat the other half.

I have an Ashley propane space heater that kicks on when the wood/coal gets low. I was trying to do the same for the other end of the house that, in years past, was shut off for 4 months when it got really cold out.
If I have to choke on propane fumes., I will PASS!!
I smell propane fumes right now!
This POS has to GO!

I sent Tractor Supply a nasty-gram about my dissapointment with the new product. 36 hours later, no response!!

My list of places to NEVER go again,
Lowes
Bob's Big Boy.
McDonalds,
Tractor Supply

The first 3, I have not been to for over a decade. The last item has been added in the last 36 hours.
I have not been in a 'bob's since my 19 year old daughter was 9 months old.
The sign said, kids eat free. I had 3 kids. I was presented a bill for $23. for the 'kids'. I didn't read the fine print.
I have not been in a Lowes since I found out 6 years ago, that they LIED on my credit report. (they showed that I stiffed them for $5,000. when I had a cancled check for the $2,500. that I actually owed them!) They had added 4 ZEROS to my account number, then ran it through again.
I had to pay a lawyer to get that straightened out!
My last McDonalds experience went like this... I was driving a bus. I had a schedule to keep. Since my bus wouldn't fit the drive-thru, I parked the bus and walked in. I paid for my order, then stood there while 12 orders went out the drive-thru window.
I ran out of time, so I left. I came back an hour later and asked if my order was ready yet. The manager asked what I had ordered. I told him. He said that he needed 3 'specials' to the kitchen crew.
I found out what a 'special' was. About 6 miles later, when I had a chance to open the bag. The sandwitches were SMASHED to about 1/2 inch thick!
I thought about driving my BUS through the window. I decided that I would NEVER eat a McSwill garbage heart attack again!
I have eaten PART of 2 'offerings', when someone else bought them.
I couldn't EAT them, after being away from that kind of CRAP for a few years! The FAT stuck to the roof of my mouth! My stoumach closed up and would not accept the TRASH!

Now, on to Tractor Supply.... I really regret that they have stooped so LOW to sell worthless HEATERS!! This POS just kicked on again. I'm still cold and the smell of propane fills the room!
I will be droping this POS off at TS as soon as I get the PotBelly installed sat!

And the great wall of China has been there for how many centuries longer than America was "discovered"? The Chinese are simply making what the dumb Americans want... CHEAP crap so everybody can keep up with the Jones. I've been more than happy with my comfort glow propane garage heater.

I can't believe you haven't added WalFart, Target, Sears and KFart to that list.

Of YOUR list, I have only been in Sears. They didn't make my list because I don't go there, and I only go to Sears to exchange or buy tools.
I have a propane heater that I LOVE. It was built by Ashley. The 'replacement' went back Sunday afternoon and the 'replacement for the replacement' has a 'SOLD' sign on it at Southern States.
It is a U.S Stoves version of the old 'Cabose' stoves that the railroad used for 100 years.
It is a little bit larger than the 'pot belly' that is in my kitchen!
I am sure that the latest 'choice' will be FAR better than what they tried to sell me!

I had the only 'hot coffee and scrambled eggs' in the neighborhood when the last 'Power-Outage' hit the 'hood'.
We had a guy camping on our couch that had walked a mile to get here!

I would rather 'hunt and gather' firewood than be at the mercy of the oil and/or electric companies, when it comes to providing HEAT to the family!

Re: Propane back-up

Installed the 'replacement' for the replacement tonite!
It is a 'Caboose' stove, built by USSC! United States Stove Company!
The design has not been changed since it was introduced in 1869!
Add 40# of coal, you get 200,000 BTU's for 8 HOURS...!
Now we have a 1947 model 'pot belly' pushing heat north and an 1869 model 'pot belly' pushing heat south!
They are 4 'rooms' apart, (about 90 feet).

History time! This was originally 2 houses that used to be next to each other. In the late 1800's, someone hooked them TOGETHER!
This creates a nightmare for anyone trying to heat both houses with one source.
I have struggled for 23 years, but decided that the house in the back was not 'needed' in the cold months, so we just shut it down from Nov thru April.
It's 17 degrees, I am 30 feet from the new stove and I am not wearing a coat!

Re: Propane back-up

Since the propane thing didn't work out, I bought a load of coal for the pot belly thursday.
I'm glad that I got 2 tons! That is the BEST burning coal I have bought in YEARS!
It will 'coke' in about 1/2 hour and burns for hours. If you break it up, it burns like you poured GAS on it!
In the morning, you tap on whats left, and what looks like POWDER falls through the grate without even shaking it!
Add more, and it's back in action for hours!

I do not regret my decision!

Anyone near here that burns coal, Ritchie Excavating, Frostburg, Md. $55. /ton at the yard. CHEAP heat!
