Over the weekend, Eric assisted me in completing a bit more bodywork on my car. I spoke with the painter who shot and wetsanded my Claret and will have this car done in a similar fashion, but taking it up a few notches

. I will be pulling out most of the glass for paint, along with all of the mouldings.

Here is what I found under the passenger side cladding:

I will be completing the bodywork, and then the engine, and finally the color and clear once the new motor is in.

Mike when you put the door claddings back on remove the foam strip and leave it off. That's 95% of the problem you see on the door is because the foam strip is holding moisture and it gets the metal strip wet, then it gets sandwhiched between that and the door which makes potatoe chips in the doors. I'm very confident on this assumtion from what I've seen on many svxi so far. Keep up the good work.

earlier in the thread I mentioned that I will install my rx8 wheels after paint.

Seth, I left out the foam on the Claret and I intend to do the same here.

Good. Are you guys going to spray it stock ebony w/ red flake or are you going to try obsidein black w/green or green/blue flake from the newer Subaru models?

I can tell you AGAIN why I have those wheels on, and that it isnt driven ANYWHERE with them lol...

lol.. yeah this is my curse. Well after you work on fiberglass, the slightest imperfection seems unacceptable at all. Check out Elliott for example, we share the same throughts concerning this.

I compared the picture after Mike "remedied" the door rust and the one before, it seemed this is the only spot he missed in the entire thing... thought to tell him before paint

And Mike, when you put the panels back on after paint, make sure you don't push the plastic panel too hard against the rear fender... or the same ding will come back again

(been there, done that... learned from mistakes
