Motor ticking

Well when I moved my car out of the paint booth today it was ticking/knocking as soon as i started it. The sound was near the back of the motor. I moved the car yesterday and it didn't do this. Then I drove it for about 35 miles light and heavy on the pedal and stoppped at a gas station. I then shut the car off and turned it back on but their wasn't a noise anymore. So i'm guessin flexplate but why would it do it then stop all of the sudden?

make sure your fluids are at the appropriate levels.

if the car sat for a few weeks or more oil will bleed from the lifters. initially it will tap for some time. but just moving it yesterday is kinda weird. did you just not notice? or maybe it was loud in the shop and you didnt here it?

if the flexplate is broke more than likely the noise wont go away.

The fluids are all ok the cars been sitting for about a week but was only moved like twice. I'm hoping that was the problem.

if you can, check to see if both of your dowel pins are pushed in where the engine and tranny meet. When they are missing flywheels will break.

they are on the sides. beetween the 1 of the nuts on the botttom and the bolt on top. check both sides. if one or both is missing more than likely you will need to put one on.

oh yeah..also if you have a vibration on hard acceleration that could also be an indication of broken flywheelness

I have a slight vibration sometimes but I think that is because I drove about 80 miles with a loose/wobbly wheel. I think it bent or wore out something.

Thats what my flywheel felt like. .it was only at about 65mph at first, then it happened at 55- then 45- ...and then the noise came..

sho nuff I effed up big time and didnt put the dowel pins in when i did the 4.44 swap. got to do it a second time.

is it a thud noise like pistons? or injector tapp type nose? clicking? does it kinda have a mettalic resonation?

The noise was like metal knocking near the back of the motor, It was very noticable inside and outside.Any other time it is quiet and the only thing you can hear are the injectors. But like i said it went away like it never happened, that's what confuses me.

Just curious the reason behind this? I thought they were there for alignment? Appreciate any info.

They are there for alignment but also prevent any play between the motor and transmission. Without them there it is possible that the flexplate can crack rather quickly-say a few thousand miles

i get that too every now and then there are three possible causes
fuel injector
lash adjuster
or cracked ignition coil
next time you hear floor it when u do that it goes away i think an injector is clogged which will cause a tic tic tic tic
