Re: Gearshift Maps

ut oh, when you are done with that you are sure to get a request for the 2.0 turbo; they have the hitachi too.

Yeah, Probably. Although I'm surprised the 2.0 turbo parameters aren't already posted on the net somewhere.

Re: Gearshift Maps

Hey Michael,

I wonder if we're missing a trick with the TCU mods.

Ryan's post on the USMB seems to suggest that on his TCU, the stock rom can be disabled by a resistor cut rather than removing it completely - like on our ECU.

After the socket is in place, there is a 0-ohm resistor on the bottom of the board that needs to be moved to enable the new socket. The ROM chip I am using is a SST27SF512; this EEPROM is easily reprogrammed without a UV eraser.

Any ideas?

Re: Gearshift Maps

r432 connects the oe of the surface mount to the same driver pin that goes to the dip socket
r431 if used connects the oe of the surface mount to high

r430 connects the ce of the surface mount to ground (the ce of the dip socket is straight to ground)
r428 connects the ce of the surface mount to high

r429 pulls a14 of both pad sets high

moving the resistor from r432 to r431 will put the surface mount in output dissable mode

Nice work.

I see it, the little green surface mount one in the corner with 000 stamped on it.

However, it's a very small part for an amateur like me to solder. It might actually be easier to remove the rom from the board than to disable it by moving the resistor.

Michael, I've added the above information to my website, credited to you. Is that OK?

I see you have a sst27sf256 in one of your pictures. Do you have a current source for them?

No. It's a sst27sf512. I got it from Calum. I think he got it from Mouser.

Re: Gearshift Maps

phil,

if you come up with a desire to switch between tcu software on the fly I'll be happy to give you a multi-tune adaptor.
