what's that.....? A DEER!

So, I just did my headlights with the Crystal Veiw kit, and installed 9005s in the low beams, and I'm glad I did.....

I was driving along at midnight here in eastern IA, and the clear and upgraded lights let me see a big doe standing in my lane on the interstate with enough time to take evasive action to not hit it. The stupid thing didn't even move... I almost swerved right, and saw that it wasn't moving so I made a quick lane change and went past it.

Not so stupid----just didn't want to try to read your mind on which way you were going to go. Remember the doe was there first. Slowing up might have reduced the potential trauma. Its a nightly happening for me if I am on the road to home, but usually larger elk or mule deer. Oh, and my stock lights do fine as long as I keep the headlights polished.

Remember, if you can't avoid the animal, don't hit a tree instead. My insurance company told me they would cover a collision with a deer and not for avoiding one. Go figure.

They will cover you if you hit a tree, but it will be a fault collision accident instead of a no-fault comprehensive accident. The reason being, if they coded all losses as non-fault when the driver "avoided a deer" or "swerved to miss that unidentified, drunken maniac," then a lot of people who lost control of their vehicle would be lying about it so they could get no-fault losses when they should be having rate increases for being a higher-risk driver.

It's kind of stupid, but, as is usually the case, a few dishonest people screw the rest of us out of a fair deal.
