The answer to that is nobody knows yet because it hasn't been done. And what's more is none of us will be able to answer your question any time soon as we all got H beam rods too.

Some brave soul will have to put these pistons on stock rods to find out.

Congrats, very nice looking. What kind of abuse can stock rods take, as TomSVX i believe shattered his piston on his one car, not the rod. Could the rods take up to 15psi without worry, as long as the pistons can?

They are machined from the strongest forgings possible with emphasis being placed on strength. Appropriate rings are included and optimum ring placement for the application was incorporated into the design. Latteral gas porting was incorporated to facilitate sealing of extreme cyllinder pressures. Tool steel pins were used for maximum strength. Pins are centered as this is better for higher cyllinder pressures. Piston tops are designed for optimum squish area performance, intake charge mix, charge to spark kernel pressentation, flame propagation, and expansion force application.

I'll follow this post with some pictures and some notes trying to illustrate the features.

Excellent specs. CP pistons are supposed to be top notch. Since this seems to be an obvious weak point from Tom's extensive experimentation, I think that this was a smart move. Can't wait to see them. Didn't you also mention that these were 97 mm diameter in a previous thread?

not as bad as you would think. I was able to work a deal with both LAN and the new motor's owner to get out of dodge fairly easily on that one... Now this one will be just a pinch more expensive

sure... you are more than welcome to come stop by the shop when I am there sometime... I am going to be devoting most of the garage space to building both mine and Sicksubie's motors. I just gotta finish school and free up some time to get some work done in there

The pistons themselves are not 97mm. The pistons are for a 97mm bore which is just a light hone on the factory cyllinders. The pistons are 96.9137mm at the guage point.

Just remember to hone your cyllinders to 3.819" = 97mm. The ring set includes instructions on the hone as far as grits to be used and what not though it is pretty standard stuff.
