Question PVC Valve - OEM or ???

Just for the halibut I think I'll get a new PVC valve installed, since I don't know when it was last replaced, & one of Beav's comments goosed the idea. Anyway, an OEM valve is a whoppin' 10 bucks. My "do-it-all" mechanic next door uses a Fram valve. Does it make one iota of difference, or should I be SVX anal as usual?

Thanks, Ron.

I think I just paid $5 or $6 for a new PCV valve on the Legacy. One the one hand, it's only $5 difference for one from Subaru, so it seems worth it to have OEM. On the other hand, Subaru didn't make even that OEM PCV valve, so why bother?

I'm anal enough to get one from Ann Arbor Subaru when I replace the same part in the SVX in about a month.

Significant Technical Input
They're a pretty simple device - I wouldn't be concerned. Plus I've been using aftermarket valves for years on everything and I seriously can't recall a single failure.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys - I didn't feel like driving 10 miles out of my way for a Gen-u-ine Suby valve anyway, when Homer next door's got one. And, if the Stockboy/El Presidente can mentally handle it, so can I - plus I can sue him if it clogs prematurely. What a country!

Ron.

I wish I had the tool to get that pcv valve replaced. I tried last summer, and it was just too tough to unscrew/pull off.

Sears sells the 19mm crow's foot individually. I think I paid $5-$7 for mine.

Yes, amazingly enough, there is: It's in the "How-To" personal locker. Have fun, Chris.
