I'll Bite...

What's the difference between a US and a JDM mirror?

OOOH!!!

Me Too!!!

I had heard a rumor years ago about power folding mirrors, but I thought they only came on the special "Police twin turbo" edition.

Bring info on costs with you too, please.

How do you get it to fold? Is there a switch that replaces a blank in the car?

I want two!

Of course first I want to see all of the above questions answered. How much it costs, how it works, blah, blah, blah... I'm not going to be at Reading so maybe you could PM me the info if you are trying to keep it a surprise for the ones that are going to be there.

I believe they are tied into the electrical circuit. When you turn the key, they unfold and retract once the ignition is turned off.

They may also be tied into the alarm/power lock circuit, unfolding when the alarm is disarmed and re-folding when the alarm is set and doors are locked.

Most of the cars in the UK and Japan have this feature because of the narrow streets and limited parking space

Yes, Doug, I remember getting "scalded" several times for mentioning these mirrors in my early days at Yahoo. I also got flamed when I mentioned "Active AWS" (as opposed to Passive AWS -- we won't go there. The dog's finally dead), that was until a member posted the scanned pages from the Owner's Manual. They were in Japanese, but the system and the 4WS light was visible on the dash. It wasn't until James had the pages translated by "Paddles" that it all became clear.

The JDM mirror switch pod has an extra rocker switch on it for 'fold IN/OUT' I wired up my own switch though, because the wireing was not in place for the fold function.

No JDM svx was available with remote keyless entry, or an alarm. They did, however, have a non-remote keyless entry. This allowed you to enter a code by lifting up on the drivers side door handle in sequence. Pretty cool if you asked me.
