you would be hard pressed to say....

that the newest version of the corvette is not an all around high performance machine. when they put it up against ferraris, vipers, mustangs, porshces, and even the nsx it is a very good competitor.

it does have a lot of hp but the car is also well balanced and well equipped (brakes, suspension, etc.)

One of my co-worker's father-in-law, is a retired GM engineer. He just traded in his 75 'Vette for a brand new 2K2. My co-worker drove it when his father-in-law was in for a visit, just last month. He said the new rear end has some amazing traction control. He kept trying to bark the tires, but it didn't happen. He said no matter how much he punched the gas, the sucker just launched. Now, I'm not a real big fan of the Vette (except the older models), but this was a very impressive report. I told my co-worker that the next time his FIL is in town, I'd like to see for myself.

C5 Sighting

Saw one yesterday about 1/2 mile in front of me. So, being interested in looking, and not thinking clearly, I sped up to catch a peek. He must have taken it as a challenge....... It was Silver and fast.... I didn't even try to catch up. I don't need a ticket from Santa Clara's Finest....... But it did have nice lines.

Thanks Randy. Now I know. These babies get my respect. In many ways the current Corvette is the bargain supercar. I would have one of these, even put up with driving from the wrong seat!!

My favourite would be silver with bodycoloured hardtop.

The only real criticism I have heard of them is they are set up for smooth roads. The ride is choppy over bumpy roads, a real problem here in Ireland.

BTW, the SVX, and those Impreza WRXs are the best cars I have ever known for taking a bad surface at speed. My SVX just sucks in bad roads at warp speed and throws them back. Wonderful body control and damping. Hard to think how they could improve it. Maybe if they let the chassis engineers work on the auto transmission??
