Hooray for Napa :D

I went in and special ordered myself a new alternator as all the alts need to be special ordered.

After an earlier exhaustive post search I came across an older thread from late 2004 where our budy AFbeefcake posts a part number that is in fact listed as an option for the SVX and supposedly runs at 110A.

Should be here by the end of the week.
We'll see how that works out.
Total plus 2nd day shipping and core was 233.20 which makes me very happy.

A couple years ago I got an alt from Autozone in Phoenix for the XT6 and that pos ran me $350. I can live with an $180 high output alt after core (:
edit: core return is 71.50 you do the math I'm going to the garage that is for some reason warmer than the rest of my place. :|

I hope it fits.

I also made off with some new nuts and washers. I left homeafter ordering the alt to get my 17mm wrench, went pack to Napa and matched up that blasted stripped nut under the crossmember.
The counter guy let me have them for free.
Whee.

Now the moment of truth.
Went to Schucks the other day looking for one of those reverso stripped bolt unscrewer things, found none of those, but ran across a nut splitter for around 10 bucks.
I am going to attempt to split this nut, and if successful, put those steering column things on finally. ;DDDDD

Oh and I got a winter wiper blade. Joy.

Remind me to shower tonight.

Ohsnaps.

I also asked about 02 sensors. I have been dreading them for the longest time because they are expensive.
Buuuuut my CE light is coming on intermittently with no noticeable driving problems so I think it might be time to replace them.

Napa has one of each, 99.89 for one and 65.89 for the other.

Go ahead tell me that is not a good deal.

Also I seem to be getting some awesome mileage in this 40-50 degree weather.
Just thought I'd point that out.
Trip meter is showing ~100 miles and fuel just under the first (3/4 tank) line, spirited driving and all.

I looked up that same alternator at Napa a couple of weeks ago, and although they claim it puts out 110 amps, just like the Bosch I got a couple of years ago, everyone else says those are really 95 amps. That's the bad news. The good news, for me at least, is that I finally found a place locally that will upgrade my Bosch to whatever output I want. They also got me a *new* OEM alternator for about the same price you got.

As for the O2 sensors, even though I've only gotten O2 sensor codes intermittently on very rare occasions, I thought it best to go ahead and replace it anyway at 220k+ miles. I got the OE Walker sensors from here for $69.50 each with prewired connectors that fit perfectly. I only just replaced them this weekend, so it's too soon to tell if they've made any difference in the mileage, but the engine does seem to feel more responsive, but that could just be my imagination. They also carry Bosch and Denso if you like those brands better.

Not sure if it is the weather or what, but my car also seems to be getting excellent gas mileage these last few days at these temps. Whan I first got it 3 weeks ago it was appallingly bad and I was quite concerned. But then it did have 2 engine codes (P0400 & P0505) set and a bad spark plug. Now with the problems corrected and the intake cleaned it is ... decent.
So maybe their are big advantages in having an SVX in a colder climate - fuel mileage and trannies.
I have come to know the character of this car in the last couple of weeks. Certainly it is no stop light racer - honestly I would be afraid to challenge anything the least bit sporty off the line. But on the highway this baby cruises! It is really deceptive at higher speeds. I just find I'm leaving traffic behind without even trying. And it is quite astonishing to watch how effortlessly you leave people with a quick kick down to 3rd for a few seconds and then torquing back into 4th. It's like you upshift into the next county or something when you do that!
Good information on the O2 sensors and alternators. I'm carefully storing all this info in directories for the future. Right now I'm considering how to clean the EGR system, as it seems to be a bit of a problem area with these cars.

What is the brand and part number of your supposed 110 amp alternator?

O sorry. When I got mine Napa did not have one is stock so I got one from an other parts store, But I got the bosch.

Well let us know how that one works out.

I need more power... My hard drive shuts down some times at idle when I got my head lights and stereo on.

D'oh!

They didn't have mine in stock either, so I had them take one from a SLC Utah store and ship it up here.

Then the guy was all worried it might not fit because it wasn't the Mitsu OE and I'm like dude, it's listed as an OE option stop trying to talk me out of it. :/

He was like "why didn't you jut go to FATS"
