Smile Fixed my RWD

My rear wheels now provide traction . Yesterday I jacked up the car, removed the exhaust, propeller shaft and transfer housing. Inside the housing is the transfer valve and solenoid assembly ("C") which was replaced. It was really great to see the rear wheels spinning and providing power before putting the car back down on the ground. Many thanks to Huck369, Dromano, Joev 90, Beav and Eddycat for providing technical and moral support.

Congrats, John! Increases a person's faith in humanity to see people helping people with positive results. Now, don't go driving into a snowbank.

Oh, my word. Well, at least don't go over any "rumble strips" before going through the snow bank -- that could be disasterous!

I have only gotten my SVX stuck in snow once - and it was very brief. I hung it up on some really deep snow. Lacking any implement or tool with which to dig, I had to remove the snow by hand. Actually, it was far less worse than that sounds. It only took me a minute or so to remove enough to get the car moving again.

It would be terrible for you to be so hungry after only HOURS. But then, I've seen you eat. You CAN put away the groceries.

HAHAHA . . . . wouldn't feel it . . . sometimes you kill me.

I would've liked to have tried a little more of that Bar-B-Q'd Boloney!

Ha, but I also watched you at the MWM. Of course, I was hiding at the other end of the table, so, you didn't see the groceries I put away that day. The veal was excellent!

Great work John. (swish, swish, sound of one hand clapping)
Have you had time to check out the old solenoid and valve, to see which one failed and why?.
I must know these things
Harvey.

Haven't checked yet in detail but I can say that both the new and the old solenoid are normally closed when the power is off. So I know the old solenoid was not stuck open.
There was no varish or other deposits in the area. It was very clean. Under the gasket for the transfer valve assembly, in the transfer case is a screen. It was pretty clean also. Just a few grains of something stuck on it. Subaru does not sell the screen as a part.
Also no metal shavings or other foreign material.

Now if I can only find some rumble strips with a launch ramp into a really hugh snow bank to try out the AWD
