I don't know what the charges should be, but for replacing that many gaskets, I'm not really surprised at the price. Which crank seal(s) did you ask them to replace - the front main or rear main seal?

Each of those seals is labor intensive alone. All of them combined is a big job.

Of course, the seals themselves are expensive from the dealer. That doesn't help. Not that I don't think that Subaru dealers rape customers on parts prices. They do, and rather harshly.

I recently had the following parts replaced:

Timing belt, tensioners, & idler bearings
Front crank, cam, & oil pump seals
Water pump & thermostat

Parts totaled $800 - $900, labor was $299. I may be a little off on the parts, I haven't actually sat down and totaled everything up. The cam and crank seals themselves were only $25. Cost of the tensioners and idler bearings was ridiculous.

Getting some of the parts from 1stsubaruparts.com saved me about $300.

When it comes to SVX maintenance & repairs, I'm beginning to adopt that old philosophy about yachts - if you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it.

Sounds pretty good to me. The dealership in Evansville charged me 800.00 and change, and I supplied all the parts.
