A/C Issues...

OK, here is the deal.

I turn on my A/C one day and the fan stayed on its lowest possible speed, no cool air comes out etc... temp set @ 68*

I put the fan on high, some thing, only there is fast air and nothing cool/cold. Temp still set @ 68*

Turn the temp up to 85* and the A/C fan kicks in trying to compensate and starts heating the car. Slowly lower the temp and the fan speed slows.

Checked all fuses related to the A/C, all good.

Swaped A/C Relay with another relay, repeated the above steps, still nothing...

A/C belt under the hood in tact and spining, compressor belt "wheel" is spinning as well.

This leaves me to one choice... I need a re-charge... would this be a pretty accurate trouble-shooting job? And would a low ammount of A/C coolant/freon/whatever it is now cause the above symptoms?

Sounds likely...a quick check with a gauge would let you know for sure. I bought a kit that came with a gauge and the dispensing stuff and use it on my other car quite often, but the SVX has put out freezing cold AC when needed so far.

If I remember, you have a 93, which uses the new R-134, not the older R-12 freon, so you can do it yourself pretty cheaply.

I agree with Steve. Sounds like your freon is low. Cheap recharge with R-134. Unlike us '92 owners.

Maybe too obvious, but do you know if, when you say the compressor pulley is rotating, that the clutch kicks in and out as the climate system is turned on/off?
